December 17, 2025 | AmericaFWD’s 2025 State of Play Report

AmericaFWD’s 2025 State of Play report is a national effort to take stock of what the past three years of infrastructure investment have revealed about how our systems are working and where they are falling short. Over the past year, AmericaFWD convened 60+ working group and roundtable participants and engaged over 100 civic, philanthropic, community, and private-sector partners across transportation, housing, water, and community wealth-building. They brought together former federal leaders, delivery practitioners, and community partners around a single question: What does it take to turn major investments into results people can actually see and feel? The answer was clear: When communities lead, America moves forward.

December 16, 2025 | CalSTA Transit Transformation Task Force Final Report

The SB125 Transit Transformation Task Force Report presents a bold, collaborative vision for the future of transit in California. Developed over two years with input from leaders, experts, and communities, the report outlines guiding principles and recommendations aligned with CalSTA’s Core Four priorities: safety, climate action, equity, and economic prosperity. It calls for continued investment in sustainable, affordable, seamless, and community-connecting transit, charting a path toward a more resilient and equitable system that strengthens communities, supports economic growth, and positions transit as a cornerstone of California’s future.

December 16, 2025 | ETF Learning Series Session: Winning fixes and funds for Chicagoland’s transit system

This session spotlighted one of the most significant transit victories in the nation this year: the creation and passage of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority (NITA) Act. This historic legislation is the result of a 3-year journey involving the development of the Plan of Action for Regional Transit, legislative hearings, competing proposals, public campaigns, and last-minute negotiations.

December 2, 2025 | Paying for Electric Vehicles - Watch video here

The federal government has thrown vehicle electrification initiatives into chaos - slashing EV tax credits, rescinding California’s Clean Air Act Waiver, and inserting uncertainty into the competitive grant process. But there is hope! Necessity is the mother of invention. Liya Rechtman from Evergreen Collaborative will share a suite of policy options for funding vehicle electrification. Harvard Business School Professor Christian Kaps shares new research on reducing range anxiety, and Maryland Department of Transportation’s Director of Electric Vehicles Morgan Ellis provides a read-out on state leadership, innovation, and successes in deployment.​​

November 24, 2025 | Surface Transportation Reauthorization - Opportunities for Federal Investment in Sustainable City Transportation  

This informational webinar focused on sustainable transportation opportunities for cities in the 2026 Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill. The webinar was hosted by Climate Mayors, C40 Cities, and Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN), in partnership with former congressional officials who wrote and implemented the last surface transportation bill. Attendees gained actionable insights, participated in a two-way discussion with experts pertaining to policy gaps that cities are looking to fill, and learned how their city can access resources to build cleaner, more efficient transportation systems enabled by federal transportation legislation.

November 19, 2025 | Paying for Public Transit - Watch video here

Transit agencies nationwide are facing a "transit fiscal cliff." Pennsylvania's legislature has failed to fund statewide trains and buses, leaving commuting school children and workers without basic mobility options. This state failure is a warning sign for the rest of the country. This webinar covers the fundamental issues in funding public transit system operations, the current landscape of public transit system funding, and a read-out from a Pennsylvania advocate.

October 2, 2025 | Public Charities Can Advocate Training Session

The Equitable Transportation Fund partnered with Alliance for Justice to bring you the Public Charities Can Advocate Training Session: How Your 501(c)(3) Can Influence Policy for the Greater Good with Equitable Transportation Fund. When our laws and policies work for us, our communities win. Nonprofits have a close-up view of community needs and can and should take advantage of their right to influence law and policy. After this training, you will have a clear understanding of what advocacy activities your 501(c)(3) can engage in, what communications count as lobbying, and how to maximize your non-lobbying advocacy.  â€‹

September 25, 2025 | ETF Learning Series Session: Land Use, Housing and Transportation 

This discussion focused on exploring critical links between land use patterns, transportation emissions, and equity. The session featured three expert speakers with deep experience in policy, advocacy, and implementation of land use, housing and transportation. All shared valuable lessons from their organizing, communications, and policy wins especially in the context of today’s challenging political climate.

July 17, 2025 | New Report from CBARC 

The Jay Mehta Community Benefits Agreement Resource Center CBARC, a program of Jobs to Move America, has released a new report detailing the process of negotiating and implementing the landmark community benefits agreement (CBA) with bus manufacturer New Flyer. The case study demonstrates how CBAs can help combat the “Southern discount” labor model while also helping manufacturers succeed by providing a pipeline of skilled workers.

It offers timely insights for funders and advocates working at the intersection of transportation, economic justice, and public investment especially as federal dollars reshape the clean manufacturing sector.​ Click here to read the report. 

July 9, 2025 | ETF Learning Series Session: Congestion Pricing 

ETF kicked off its Transportation Learning Series with a discussion on congestion pricing not just as a policy tool, but as a case study in winning broader climate and transportation fights.

​

Speakers Ben Furnas (Transportation Alternatives) and Nick Sifuentes (Summit Foundation) shared lessons from New York City’s decades-long push for congestion pricing. They highlighted how strong community organizing, clear messaging, and persistent advocacy helped overcome political challenges and deliver a major win for transit and climate goals.

  • Engage. Members of Congress, particularly at the state level, are important allies. If you are managing an impacted project, send clear, concise information on what’s at stake to them.

  • Act. Several organizations, including Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG), have developed templates and tools for grantees facing disruptions.

    • The American Public Health Association (APHA) was one of the lead organizations that filed a lawsuit challenging the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) freeze on federal grants.
